Relationship Investment

If you don’t know me…I’m let you in on a little secret..I’m a self-admitted CHEAP SKATE. I don’t think I’ve ever been on a Shopping Spree…I don’t really care about labels or name brands, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t look like no bum by no standard, but I can find what I need at Target or even a Salvation Army or Goodwill (yeah I said it) as opposed to going to Macy’s, some boutique, etc. etc. etc.

So, Mr. Skate stepped out on a limb this morning. After being a MotoDroid owner for 8 months..within that time I had never purchased an Application. Why would I?…the market is so huge..anything that I need is (or has) been free up until this point.

I know what people mean now when they say, "When you meet the right on…you’ll start doing things you’ve never done before."

We that was definitely the case when I twet her! She came to me by way of a reference. I heard she was great. Looked good. Was proficient in multiple positions. Had many styles. Flexibility and willingness to change. So much going on for herself that she’d amze even the most experienced person to take advantage of her. Needless to say on our free date she floored me..her name…..Tweetcaster. I decided to take her out on the town, just feeling her out to see if there was something there. There was. I decided to make an Investment in our Relationship.

me:  im about to buy a phone app

<NOTE: It was right at this point that I was on Handmark’s website and initiating my purchase…there wasn’t really anything I ‘thought’ that was going to make me reconsider my purchase in the remainder of this chat….I think I may have been wrong>

her:  WHAT!..how much and what is it?
me:  4.99 –> Tweetcaster. I love it but hate the damn ad pop-ups. I’m a free App cat…but this has got me pocket reachin..did a design job last night and got paid immediately..so I’m ‘splurgin’

<NOTE: Entering PayPal>

her:  Get HOOTSUITE!..you can manage all of your twitter accounts there and there are no ads..FREE
me:  idk…caster has all the ppl talkin…I was on a linkedIn thread on twitter apps..caster got all the praise
her:  LOL. Big spender
me:  first droid app purchased after 8 months of ownership..yeah…I’m tapped out for the weekend
her:  I still haven’t purchased one

<NOTE: My Purchase is now complete…Of course after my purchase @handmark …all this NEW intel starts pouring in!>

her:  can you schedule tweets?

"Can I schedule tweets?!" Hold on…that was a good question. Could I? I didn’t know? Is it truly possible to know everything about something..or even someone. As much research as you may do…can you truly have painted the most accurate image?

OK…so to debuke my friend’s comments that eluded to (her opinion) that I made a mistake with my big purchase, I did a simple search to compare the two apps…I didn’t find the info I was looking for but I figured if I looked for a page detailing specifically what I just downloaded..which you’d think I would have done initally!…however I didn’t…*sounds almost like a hasty decision*

Anyway…searching ‘Tweetcaster Premium’ via Google returned at the very top a site advertising the FREE download of my latest big purchase. DAMN. So of course I went to it and initiated the download…yes i did it and I’m telling on myself..but read on BIG BROTHER (aka #FederalGoverment)….The download cancelled and I got a message saying my request was only available for site members, and sent me to the Registration page….I quickly moved on and felt not as bad about my recent purchase!

Keep in mind, the investment had already been made and the device download was in-progress. I started looking for app reviews, etc!..I needed to find out if I can schedule tweets. I ran across this review which was pretty good by Kent German of CNET.

Unfortunately, still no help. I tweeted my inquiry. No replies. I double checked the application and preferences. No option found. Then I read a Blog post entitled, "A Tantrum Fit for a Mofo" of a friend (@MofoChronicles) on her website The Mofo Chronicles that got me to thinking…in life, sometimes there are things that you want or think you want (that others may have) that for whatever reason, may not be accesible to you at that moment in time. The things that you want could be unhealthy for you. Regarding my ‘relationship investment’…maybe that ‘scheduling’ ability was something that I would never use..maybe it would make me even more automated in an already introverted world. Maybe it would increase my efficiency. Maybe this. Maybe that.

Point being….there are always new details that are going to surface about a decision that you previously made that may or may not affect your life curently. Best thing to do is live without regret and know that if anything in life is meant for someone to have…it may not be meant for another at that time. I’m a Tweetcast user (to all my <100 followers)..and proud of it…with or without ‘Scheduling!’

So what you are saying is that you are trying to justify your purchase that was made after doing lackluster research? Just like a man. You will need to schedule some tweets very soon my friend.
