The Day was like any other day. Get me ready. Get the kid ready. And Go.
But today was a snowy day…add 15 mins to the original plan. The step was a little slower on first response from the DroidAlarm.
The got a juice drink and ran the water. Dressed now I remind Big P waking him up that today is Vote Day.
For 3 he was quite responsive and seemingly ready for the event. He’s a kid that lives for experience. "I wanna do it" is his credo.
WIth McDOnald’s food in hand we head to the precinct. He enjoying his biscuit with grape jelly..and me on coffee…still slow steppin.
We get to the school and I remind him that his brother went to this school..he was attentative to the halls and rooms. I had to point out (or say) that their rooms were like his…and he saw not the difference in things..but the opportunity and possible fun that those differences can bring.
I gave my son my electronic voting key card (yeah..as a sidebar…we will actually see if I actually casted a ballot…so many issues it made me not have a great deal of confidence as a voter…what other option did I have but convince my son that we voted.
Funny enough..as we left and I tried to give him my voting confirmation…I 5×5 in card proclaiming me a voter…a decision maker…a person that has a voice and at least today…on this snowy…damp…early morning…(not to meantion…but as slow as I got up and moved around..we left the earliest that we had ever left on our McDonalds-eating mornings…it was quite impressive in hind sight.
But back to the Exit Poll. I was trying to get my son to accept this confirmation paper that he infact voted…I even got the pictures…quite amazing..see below…but he looked so disappointed. He pouted his lip and walked away unsatisfied.
A woman walked by and over heard my plea for him to accept the paper I was giving him…she laughed and looked down at him as he said No for the 2nd time to the paper….I looked at her and said Voting isn’t always a satisfying feeling.
We voted today!
